WHAT IS THE BRITCHAM LAZOS PRIZE?
The Business Social Responsibility Award (RSE) BRITCHAM LAZOS has been delivered by the British Colombo Chamber of Commerce for seven years and its objective is to identify the most efficient and socially responsible models in CSR, programs that are being implemented in the country, whose Models allow the generation of sustainability, employment, health, education, technical training and protection of the environment, among others.
BRITCHAM LAZOS seeks to generate a scenario of continuous learning and improvement and was born as a response to the need to know, promote, multiply and reward the work of the participating companies, as well as foster a new responsible business culture.
WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES THAT CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE PRIZE?
The categories defined for the Award to the best Social Responsibility Programs are the following:
1. Best program to Management Interest Groups
It contains projects related to assistance and support to vulnerable communities in search of a sustainable improvement in their quality of life. The initiatives that address the specific social problems of each community and that generate possibilities for integral human development will be valued.
2.Best program in Environmental Practices
In this category, companies that, due to the nature of their business, have a substantial impact in terms of their carbon footprint, on the environment that surrounds them, the ecosystems where they operate and, consequently, have developed consistent policies and will be evaluated. Effective to minimize the damage they may cause. The business initiatives that have as their main objective the preservation of natural resources with a vanguard vision on the needs of the future will be taken into account.
3. Best Responsible Marketing Program
These include categories that contain the best practices in the development of a product, the requirements related to consumer safety, as well as ethics and transparency in their marketing strategies and the development of promotional material among others. Likewise, any marketing practice that promotes a healthy lifestyle and protection of the environment among consumers will be valued, involving both the production company and the agents that participate in its value chain.
For each of the categories, the Colombian British Chamber of Commerce will award the recognition to the First and second place, according to the score obtained in the evaluation of the technical jury and the jury, as well as a special recognition of an Innovative Program of Great National Impact.
HOW ARE THE PROGRAMS QUALIFIED AND WHAT METHODOLOGY?
The Technical Committee will be composed of 4 Members belonging to certifying entities and / or auditors and a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, who will evaluate the information received and will make a pre-selection of those projects that will be put into consideration by the Jury, based on in the standardized criteria defined by the House Award Directives.
Subsequently, this information will be delivered to the members of the Qualifying Jury, with whom the selected companies will have the possibility of supporting their programs for 30 minutes.
The Technical Committee contributes 30% of the grade and the Jury contributes 70% of it, on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest grade and 5 the highest possible.
Those companies that obtain a score higher than 3, in the evaluation of the Qualifying Committee are the ones that will pass to the Jury’s consideration.
The Colombian British Chamber of Commerce has designed, with the advice of PricewaterhouseCoopers, a rating matrix for each of the categories to be evaluated. Both the Committee and the qualifying Jury will adjust to these standardized parameters, ensuring the transparency of the process. Each answer will be weighted by a specific percentage according to the importance of each topic included in the technical specifications.
All the participating companies will be evaluated both the file corresponding to the category(s) to which they are presented or the Technical File of “Internal Work Environment” that will represent 30% of the awarded score.
The Colombian British Chamber of Commerce Directives will conduct field visits to the participating companies and the implementation of the CSR policies will be verified.
WHO CREATES THE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE AND THE QUALIFYING JURY?
Both the Technical Committee and the Qualifying Jury are composed of executives from different organizations of the public and private sector with certification and auditing functions.
